Boucher Place Plants 50 Foot Willow Oak

ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 21) – On Friday March 18, 2011, Mid-Atlantic based new homes developer Basheer & Edgemoore planted a 50 foot tall willow oak tree during a ceremony at the company’s Boucher Place new homes community. The event took place on a sun-filled afternoon and included numerous distinguished guests including Annapolis Mayor Joshua Cohen.

“We’re very much committed to preserving the natural beauty of all our communities,” said Diane Cox Basheer, Basheer & Edgemoore Principal. “We’re so glad we can make this willow oak the cornerstone of the community’s park area. In fact, we consider it the first resident of Boucher Place.”

Basheer & Edgemoore coordinated efforts with City of Annapolis Chief of Current Planning Tom Smith and worked with city arborist Jan Van Zutphen and local arborist Don Zimar to select the willow oak, a tree native to the area’s waterways and distinguished by its willow-like leaves and vibrant green coloring. The willow oak selected for Boucher Place is 20 years old and was transplanted from Sunshine, MD.

Attendees to the March 18th Boucher Place ceremony included Annapolis city officials as well as Basheer & Edgemoore executives, business partners and neighbors from the Eastport community. Diane Cox Basheer delivered remarks to commemorate the planting.
